KATIE YU - Writer | Director | Co-Producer
Katie is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s
Film & Television Studies Program. Katie has been applying
her writing and directing skills to various projects. Her first
project, JUST SMILE AND NOD, was one of five winners in the national
CBC Mix Flicks competition in 2003. The short film was nominated
for “Best Short Film” and “Best Performance
by a Male” (Colin Foo) at the 2004 Leo Awards. JSAN received
critical acclaim at several festivals including the The Toronto
Asian Film Festival, The Chicago International Reel Shorts Festival
and The California Independent Film Festival. JSAN also marked
Katie’s directorial debut. Katie’s second project,
BIRTHDAYS AND OTHER TRAUMAS, was one of the winners of the 2005
Directors Guild of Canada BC District Kick Start program. Katie
is also currently developing her feature film project.

RAYMOND MASSEY – Executive Producer
After graduating from Simon Fraser University
with a B.BA in 1983, Raymond went into business with cinematographer
brother Nathaniel, to produce documentaries, industrials and
commercials. In 1989 he produced his first feature, THE TRAVELER,
and was subsequently invited to attend Norman Jewison’s
prestigious Canadian Film Centre as a Producer Resident, producing
films by some of Canada’s most noted playwrights, novelists
and actors.
Following his residency, Raymond embarked on a prolific career
producing a variety of award-winning films including IMPOLITE;
WHALE MUSIC, which opened at the Toronto Film Festival and was
later awarded a Genie; LIVES OF GIRLS & WOMEN; MY FATH ER’S
ANGEL a multiple Leo award winner, including Best picture and
a Genie; and Lynne Stopkewich’s SUSPICIOUS RIVER, which
premiered at the Venice Film Festival and later took a Leo for
Best Picture. Massey also co-produced Mina Shum’s LONG
LIFE HAPPINESS & PROSPERITY with Shaftesbury Films of Toronto.
The film premiered in 2002 at the Toronto International Film
Festival, followed by a screening at Sundance and other major
international festivals in 2003. Raymond’s producing credits
also include documentary programming, most recently, a successful
collaboration on Kenny Hotz’s feature documentary PITCH,
followed by THE PAPAL CHASE, which to date has won three festival
audience awards in North America. In 2004 Raymond produced Nick
Racz’s BURIAL SOCIETY, released in the US by Regent; SPIRIT
BEAR and Raphael Assaf’s
THE ZERO SUM, starring Ewen Bremner. In 2005, Raymond completed
line producing the Bob Yari production GRAY MATTERS, starring
Heather Graham, Tom Cavanagh and Bridget Moynahan, written and
directed by Sue Kramer.
Raymond has joined Network to spearhead the development
and production of independent Canadian films and international
co-productions. |

GEOFFREY WAY – Producer
Geoffrey Way grew up in Burnaby, British Columbia
where he began his Film career as a professional actor. He went
on to complete a BFA at Trinity Western University, where he
developed an interest in screenwriting. After graduation, Geoffrey
worked on various union productions while continuing to write,
and in 2001 won the BC Film Features in Focus award for a full
length screenplay entitled “Small Fry”. He was subsequently
hired as an ADR series writer for Ocean Media (Hamtaro, Dragonball)
and has since written several shorts and feature scripts.
In 2004 Geoffrey wrote, produced, and directed his first film:
“Understanding Jerry”. In spring 2005 he was hired
by Massey Productions Ltd. to assist on “Gray Matters”:
a feature starring Heather Graham and Sissy Spacek. He was then
selected for the 2005 BC Film Producer Internship program under
Raymond Massey where he continues to work on the development
and production of various Massey/Network shows such as “Iron
Road”, “Heroines”, “The Igloo”,
“The Life and Times of Gordie Howe”, “Kickin
It Old Skool” (staring Jamie Kennedy).
Geoffrey currently resides in Kitsilano.

KATIE WEEKLEY - Line Producer
Katie graduated from the UWO with a B.A. in English Literature
and UBC with a Masters in Film Theory. She taught undergrad
courses for a year before moving onto set in the camera department.
In 2005, she completed courses in Entertainment Law and Film
Financing through UBC as well as the Women in Film Producer’s
Workshop. She has also been awarded this year’s Women
In Film Mentorship.
Katie is beginning her producing career on short films. She
served as Line Producer on Katie Yu’s Kick Start Short
Film, BIRTHDAYS AND OTHER TRAUMAS. She also co-produced the
CFTPA short STILL DREAMS and very recently, she wrapped production
on COFFEE DIVA.

LAUREL BERGMAN – Production Designer
Laurel has been involved the professional field
of design since graduating in Sculpture/Installation from the
Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. She has beginnings
in high-end specialty design and fabrication for film and television:
I ROBOT, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, FANTASTIC FOUR, BATTLESTAR
GALACTICA in addition to working in Public Art. Laurel has collaborated
successfully Production Designing and Art Directing several
Canadian films. |

MAHLON TODD WILLIAMS - Director of Photography
Todd’s independent eye and unique approach
to lighting has captured the attention of many producers and
directors. A graduate of Concordia University’s film program,
Todd has worked in several countries including Ireland, South
Korea, Chile, and Easter Island. Credits include the documentary,
WORLD IN CELEBRATION series, the television program, DRIVER’S
SEAT and features such as MAXIMUM SURGE, WILDFIRE 7 and SECRET
LIES. |

NEIL BURNETT - Music Composer
Neil Burnett is a graduate the University of Victoria
as well as of the University of British Columbia. Neil has both
recorded and performed with the Paperboys, Will Millar of the
Irish Rovers, Doug Cox, Andy Creegan (ex-Barenaked Ladies) and
others. As a solo performer and composer, Neil has released
several of his own albums and appeared on television and on
CBC radio. He has written music for the stage, including a full
production of A MIDSUMMER’S NIGHT DREAM; for television
The History Channel’s ST. PATRICK: THE MAN AND THE MYTH,
and recently with Tim McCauley on the forthcoming CBC series,
DRAGON BOYS, and for film. Neil lives and works in Vancouver.

CHERYL BUCKMAN - Post Produced and Edited
by
Cheryl was born in Montreal and is a graduate
of Concordia University. Cheryl has worked in Vancouver in Post
Production for the past 10 years, primarily as a First Assistant
Editor on feature films such as JUMANJI, DOUBLE JEOPARDY, INSOMNIA,
DREAMCATCHER, LIZZIE MCGUIRE, CONNIE AND CARLA to name a few.
She has edited on TV series, such as MADISON, NEON RIDER, and
DOORWAYS TO THE UNKNOWN. She has worked closely with Directors
Mina Shum, and Bruce Sweeney, as the Post Supervisor, including
Bruce's latest feature LAST WEDDING which opened at the Toronto
Film Festival.
Although the AMERICAN FEATURE INDUSTRY has been her bread and
butter, Cheryl is equally committed to CANADIAN INDEPENDANT
CINEMA and sees her future leaning more in that direction. |
